A 22-year-old Lawndale man who heard noises from a downstairs apartment that was supposed to be unoccupied was fatally shot early Saturday. Pierre Moore, of the 2200 block of South Springfield, died of a gunshot wound to the neck, officials said. He left his second-floor apartment, went downstairs and knocked on the door of the unit. An unknown gunman opened it and shot him, police said.
