Beef Prices Likely To Spike In Coming Months
The latest inflation numbers from the government show that consumer prices are rising at their fastest rate in 17 years. High gas and grain prices are hitting food producers hard and prices are expected to rise sharply this fall and winter.

Inflation continued to surge in July, with food and energy prices contributing to the sharpest price increases in 17 years and helping drive down workers' spending power at a rate not seen since 1990.

Consumer price index expected to show another riseAP - The Labor Department is expected to report a rise in the consumer price index for July, but not as large as June's increase. The median estimate from economists surveyed by Thomson Financial/IFR was for a 0.4 percent gain, and after food and energy prices are stripped out, a 0.2 percent advance. In June, the index rose by 1.1 percent the second-fastest monthly pace in 26 years.
