Emisphere Announces Data From Independent Clinical Study Of Effects Of Oral GLP-1 On Glucose And Insulin Concentrations
Emisphere Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: EMIS) announced findings from a clinical study assessing the oral delivery of GLP-1 peptide safely and effectively. The study used a delivery-agent-based approach using Emisphere's Eligen(R) technology, and was conducted at University Hospital in Basel, Switzerland by Christoph Beglinger, M.D.

Boosting survival of insulin-cell transplants for Type 1 Diabetes Researchers in Japan are reporting a discovery that could improve the effectiveness and expand the use of transplants of insulin-producing cells to treat diabetes. Their study is scheduled for the July 16 issue of ACS' Bioconjugate Chemistry, a monthly journal. Insulin-dependent, or Type 1, diabetes affects about 800,000 people in the United States.
