Yes, parents can learn to talk to their kids about sex. A randomized trial of a worksite-based program found that participants were better able to start and sustain dialogues on touchy sex-related topics, teach their teens decision-making and assertiveness skills, and even demonstrate condom use. Large California employers, under pressure to create family-friendly workplaces, were happy to sponsor the lunch-hour program -- the first of its kind to be rigorously developed and evaluated.

An increasing number of 70 year olds are having good sex and more often, and women in this age group are particularly satisfied with their sex lives, according to a new study. Knowledge about sexual behavior in older people (70 year olds) is limited and mainly focuses on sexual problems, less is known about "normal" sexual behavior in this age group.

Researchers have launched the first trial directly comparing the pill and vaginal gel formulations of the antiretroviral drug tenofovir to answer key questions about their use as HIV prevention in women. Are there differences in how the drug is absorbed, especially in the vagina's infection-prone cells? And will women prefer one daily approach over another? Findings will help determine optimal dosing of and adherence to ARV-based prevention methods.

Predicting a child's future is a near impossible task -- today's straight-A student may not become tomorrow's doctor, and the school-yard bully may actually grow up to become a member of the Peace Corps. So why should an adolescent's sexual behavior-- or lack thereof -- determine whether or not she gets vaccinated against the human papillomavirus, to protect against future HPV infection?
