Birmingham Shelters Open for Evacuees
Some New Orleans evacuees fleeing Hurricane Gustav are expected to arrive in Birmingham. Officials expect the first of as many as 4,000 evacuees to arrive by bus.

Traffic coming into Dothan isn't a problem right now, but be prepared to see a lot of Louisiana and Mississippi license plates around town in the coming days.Wallace Community College in Dothan has opened a shelter for mobile and Louisiana evacuees...wiregrass residents will not be allowed to take refuge there as there is no immediate threat to those residents.
