Visalia Police and Tulare County Sheriff's Deputies are involved in a SWAT standoff near Recreation Park in downtown Visalia. Several streets in the area are shut down. It's unclear what led to this standoff, but there are reports of shots being fired in the area.

Gov. Schwarzenegger says he is considering temporarily reducing the hourly wage of more than 200,000 state employees to the federal minimum wage of $6.55 as a way of saving money until a new state budget is passed.
