Rabbi Sharon Brous founded IKAR, a Jewish spiritual community in Los Angeles dedicated to the integration of spiritual and religious practice and the pursuit of social justice. According to the JCF, Brous is credited with drawing back many young, unaffiliated Jews to Judaism.

An autopsy is under way to determine the cause of death of a Garden Grove man who stopped breathing after he was zapped in the thigh with a stun gun while police were attempting to detain him. Garden Grove police Lt. Dennis Ellsworth says officers were called to a house in the 13200 block of Barnett Way just before noon Wednesday by members of the man's family, who reported that the man, who was known to have mental problems, was acting erratic.
