Federal investigators are looking into the conduct of one of Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca's top assistants as part of their corruption probe of former Orange County Sheriff Michael S. Carona, it was reported Friday. According to an FBI report, Don Haidl, an ex-assistant sheriff under Carona who owned a vehicle auction business, said he gave Los Angeles County Undersheriff Larry Waldie an old but "good-running" Camaro as a gift for Waldie's daughter, The Times reported.

The county Health Care Agency says the 23-year-old man and 41-year-old man do not have any symptoms of illness. The names and hometowns of the men aren't being released.

A freight train Friday struck a person or a body near the San Bernardino-Riverside county line, prompting Metrolink to cancel three trains on its Inland Empire line, which runs from San Bernardino to Oceanside. Train 803 leaving San Bernardino at 4:52 a.m., train 805 leaving at 5:22 a.m., and train 807 leaving at 5:57 a.m., were all cancelled, according to Metrolink spokeswoman Denise Tyrell.
