A problem dispatchers are having with Marion County's new digital emergency communications system will be fixed for about $270,000. The Metropolitan Emergency Communications Agency will purchase 154 devices that direct all incoming audio for dispatchers into their headsets, the MECA Board decided at a special meeting Thursday. Currently, the $37 million digital system directs some traffic to external speakers, which dispatchers say creates the potential for chaos in Marion County's small dispatch center.
