In April 1865, Joshua Speed of Louisville, Abraham Lincoln's closest friend, visited the 16th president. Speed described the Kentucky native as "jaded and weary," and Lincoln confided that he was alarmed at his own health, asking Speed to feel his cold and clammy hand.

Police investigate Metro's latest murder after a body is found in trunk of car
A string of deadly crime continues in Louisville as Metro Police investigate their seventh homicide in eight days. The latest victim was found by his girlfriend just after 4:30 p.m. Saturday in the trunk of a relative's car near Oleanda Avenue and Faywood Way, just off Seventh Street Road.

Thousands turn out to 'Light up Louisville'

Homeless women crowned queens for a day
Erica Sansom spends most of her time worrying about her seven children, five of whom live with her at the Salvation Army's emergency women's shelter. But for a few hours yesterday, she and seven other homeless women got to be queens for a day.
