8½-foot gator killed in neighborhood
MONROE, La. (AP) _ An authorized Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries nuisance hunter shot and killed an 8½-foot alligator crawling through a Monroe neighborhood.Stacy McDaniel says she's never seen one in her neighborhood before.McDaniel says the nuisance hunter and his partner arrived Wednesday with a long bamboo stick and some plastic cord. She says they didn't look prepared for an alligator that size.John Hanks of the Monroe LDWF office says high water probably forced the alligator from its natural habitat and into the neighborhood.
