Omaha Royals president meets with Sarpy County officials
Omaha Royals President Alan Stein joined Sarpy County officials and a consultant today in briefing about 35 business leaders on the possibility of building a suburban ball park. Stein said negotiating a deal with Omaha's Metropolitan Entertainment and Convention Authority to use the planned downtown stadium remains his top priority. He said it's prudent for him to explore alternatives, but no decision to move to Sarpy County or two other cities vying for the Royals will be made until a final resolution is reached with MECA.

A revision of a controversial ordinance to be debated Tuesday in Fremont, Neb., would require employers that get licenses, permits or loans from the city to electronically verify an applicant's immigration status — or face a shutdown. An earlier version contained only penalties for renting to illegal immigrants.
