Burn Ban Lifted For Several Eastern NC Counties
The burning ban has been lifted for 10 counties in the east. Four of those counties include: Beaufort, Hyde, Tyrell and Washington. Officials placed a ban in those counties because of the Evans Road wildfire. But, the NC Division of Forest Resources thanks the recent rains for bringing relief to those areas and also, to these other counties: Bladen, Brunswick, Columbus, Duplin, New Hanover, and Pender counties. Their burning ban was originally placed because of the lack of rain and high temperatures. While this weekend's rain may help reduce the fire danger it still hasn't helped the drought conditions Officials say that if drought conditions continue then a burning ban could be reinstated. To find out how to apply for a burning permit, just log on to wnct.com and type in the keyword: burn permit.
