If you want to try the bus, Saturday is the day.The Cape Fear Public Transportation Authority, which operates Wave Transit, is offering free bus rides all day, including shuttles from Independence Mall to the Wilmington Sharks baseball game at Legion Stadium. Sunset Beach bridge closed tonight for emergency repairs
The Sunset Beach pontoon bridge on Sunset Beach Boulevard will be closed entirely to traffic from 10 p.m. tonight to 6 a.m. Thursday for emergency repairs, the N.C. Department of Transportation said Wednesday.

The U.S. Postal Service is asking dog owners to secure their pets for the safety of letter carriers.One postal worker was attacked from behind and bitten in the leg while she delivered mail in Southport last week.The dog got loose because a gate latch was broken, a fact the owner knew, Enola Rice, spokeswoman for the postal service, said.
