The story told of how the pilot's plane was damaged, forcing him to eject, she said. Years later, the pilot was approached by a stranger in a restaurant. The man told him he packed his parachute that day. The pilot said thank you.

School board to vote on building deal
A construction contract will be up for approval tonight for building an elementary school in southwest Sioux Falls.The school board will consider the contract at its 5:30 p.m. meeting.The school, to open in 2009 at 57th Street and Ellis Road, is one of three major building projects ahead. The district also plans to open a career-tech academy for high school students in 2010, with the likely site next to Southeast Technical Institute. A new northwest elementary, on Maple Street west of Marion Road, is planned for 2013.
