Cavendish pulls out of Tour de France
British sprinter Mark Cavendish pulled out of the Tour de France before Sunday's 15th stage, featuring major climbs in the Alps. Cavendish won four stages at this year's race with sprint finishes. Team Columbia manager Bob Stapleton said he and Cavendish had reached a mutual decision after the 23-year-old cyclist complained of tiredness recently.

A lot of dopes racing in the Tour de Farce
There was a time not so long ago when none of this would have mattered, at least on this side of the pond. The bikes ridden here are mostly low riders that kids pedal to school, or cushy cruisers the parents take for a spin around the block. Anything longer than that and we reach deep into the wallet and gas up the SUV.
