Two sides protests in the Valley
Two sides of the issue both rally on the day the Immigration Law takes effect. The federal government is not doing the job, so somebody needs to, said Kelley Brooks, Central Valley Tea Party.I think its legalized racism and I think we should resist it, said Matt Ward, Against Immigration Law. Brooks is appalled that anyone would object to measures that could potentially cut down on drugs and violence from crossing into the U.S.We established a homeland security department to fight terrorism in our country and we can't secure our borders? Seems like an oxymoron to me, said BrooksMeanwhile across town, the May 1st Committee believes racial profiling is going on. They want the Fresno's City Council to start an economic boycott against Arizona. If people are already here and haven't committed any crimes and they're contributing, they should be fully integrated in our communities, said Daniel Luna, May 1st Committee. The May 1st Committee says although they're happy the Federal Judge put a block on the most controversial issue they want the targeting of immigrants to stop.
