My brother tried to visit Lyndhurst this past summer and rang the bell at the gate, but there was no answer. Before WWII, the home belonged to my grandfather Harold Walford, and was the home where my mother was raised. All my life I have geard stories about Lyndhurst and it's as though it is part of my life. The home was much larger than it is now. At one time it housed my granfather's private hospital. The home was taken over by the British Army during the war and was used as a communication centre and was bombed by the Germans.
