'Three Cups' author to speak
Author Greg Mortenson, who wrote "Three Cups of Tea" with David Oliver Relin, will give a free lecture in Sioux Falls.Mortenson will speak at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 28 in the Elmen Center at Augustana College. A freewill offering will help the Central Asia Institute, a nonprofit agency that Mortenson co-founded in 1996. Doors will open at 6:45 p.m.Mortenson, the son of Lutheran missionaries, grew up near Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. He went to high school in Minnesota, graduated from the University of South Dakota and served with the U.S. Army in Germany before a mountain rescue reshaped his life in the 1990s.

The relative yield of finding and treating latent tuberculosis is particularly high among higher-risk groups of foreign-born persons living in the US, such as individuals from most countries of sub-Saharan Africa and Southeast Asia, according to a study in the July 23/30 issue of JAMA.
