Precision Castparts Corp. net rises 22%
NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Precision Castparts Corp. on Tuesday said first-quarter net income climbed to $275.8 million, or $1.95 a share, from $226.4 million, or $1.61 a share in the year-ago period. The Portland, Ore. metal components maker said sales for the three months ended June 29 rose to 11% to $1.8 billion. Analysts surveyed by FactSet forecast earnings of $1.94 a share on revenue of $1.8 billion, on average. "Our aerospace business continues to see strong and steady demand," the company said. The company is making components both for the Boeing 787 and the Airbus A380. "We would also expect growth to accelerate as these schedules ramp up to full production.
