Neighbors fear opening of BBQ
Alton Guidry said he did the responsible thing when he voluntarily closed his nightclub, Big Chubb's King of Clubs, immediately after a fatal shooting there in late July.Now, fallout from Chubb's is following Guidry into his new business venture -- a barbecue restaurant in the 500 block of East Harry that could open in several weeks.Neighbors who live near the proposed site said they don't want a business under the same ownership as Chubb's.The Wichita Police Department will sponsor a neighborhood meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Bethany United Methodist Church, 1601 S. Main, to discuss the issue with residents.Bill Davis, president of the South Central Neighborhood Association, said he is concerned because even though it is billed as a barbecue restaurant, the business has applied for a liquor license.
