Agency forecasts effects of global warming on SouthGlobal warming will bring steep costs to the South as it faces threats of more heat and extreme weather, according to a report from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency published today.The Gulf Coast states, in particular, will be hit with more flooding and other problems from more frequent and intense storms and forest fires, according to the federal report. Other effects expected in the South include higher air pollution and a longer pollen season. The report predicts premature deaths among those who don't have access to air conditioning and those with chronic health conditions.
