Nunavut's former languages commissioner Eva Aariak was namedpremier yesterday, beating two-term premier Paul Okalik. She was theonly woman elected to the legislative assembly. Nunavut has no partysystem. Instead, elected MLAs choose the premier and cabinet fromwithin their ranks.
