Ford U.S. sales down 26.6% to 155,690 vehicles in August
SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Ford Motor Co. on Wednesday reported a 26.6% drop in August U.S. sales to 155,690 vehicles from 212,120 a year ago. Ford, Lincoln and Mercury combined car sales fell 8.9% to 52,677 units due to a continued preference for more fuel-efficient models among consumers. Truck sales slumped 32.3% to 98,344 units with sales of the flagship F-Series pickup sliding 41.6% to 40,429 units. Volvo brand sales fell 48.8% to 4,669 vehicles.
