Japanese game makers Koei, Tecmo in merger talks : report
HONG KONG (MarketWatch) -- Japanese game-software developers Koei Co. and Tecmo Co. have agreed to start talks with an eye on a merger, the Nikkei business daily reported Thursday, citing sources familiar with the matter. The report follows after another software-game developer, Square Enix Co. , submitted a tender offer earlier this month to buy Tecmo in a deal valued at a minimum of $102 million. Microsoft to be among 13 investors in NHK satellite channel
HONG KONG (MarketWatch) -- Microsoft will join a dozen companies taking stakes in a 24-hour English-language satellite channel under development by Japanese broadcaster NHK which is due to launch in February. NHK will issue 190 million yen ($1.8 million) in new shares through private placements with the 13 investors, the Nikkei newspaper said Thursday, without citing sources. After the new shares are issued, NHK's share in the venture will fall to 60%. The Nikkei said the 13 investors, which include Nippon Television Network Corp. , and Tokyo Broadcasting System Inc. , are expected to each invest between 10 million to 20 million yen. Citi initiates Hang Seng Bank at "sell", sets target HK$135
HONG KONG (MarketWatch) -- Citi initiated coverage of Hang Seng Bank Thursday with a "sell" rating, advising that the slowing Hong Kong economy and weakening lending to the property market as well as weaker lending to businesses will erode the bank's outlook. "We believe its premium valuation will come under pressure given the sharp slowdown in earnings growth," wrote Citi analysts in a research note.
