Volkswagen profit climbs 31%, sticks to target
LONDON (MarketWatch) -- Volkswagen said first-half profit rose 31% to 2.57 billion euros ($4.06 billion), with revenue up 3% to 56.5 billion euros. Its operating profit rose 22% to 3.43 billion euros, and VW expects 2008 operating profits will rise on record deliveries and increased sales. Analysts polled by Dow Jones Newswires expected a half year profit of 2.25 billion euros on revenue of 55.9 billion euros.
