Rebalance priorities in Afghanistan, committee urges
OTTAWA -- The federal government should "rebalance itspriorities in Afghanistan" to focus on reconstruction, developmentand peace-building efforts, an all-party Commons committee urged ina report released on Thursday. The report made 35 recommendationsregarding Canada's NATO-led mission in the war-torn country,following a two-year period of meetings and hearings. It alsorecommended Canada maintain its military commitment but attempt tominimize Afghan casualties and property damage.
