Flood Safety Awareness Week: March 21-25, 2005
NOAA's National Weather Service is hosting the first annual Flood Safety Awareness Week to raise public attention to the dangers of flooding and ways to protect life and property. "No state or territory is immune from the dangers of flooding, but knowing how to react when floods threaten can mean the difference between life and death," said Brig. Gen. David L. Johnson, U.S. Air Force (Ret.), director of NOAA's National Weather Service.

NOAA hurricane forecasters are predicting another above-normal hurricane season on the heels of last year's destructive and historic hurricane season. NOAA's prediction for the 2005 Atlantic hurricane season is for 12 to 15 tropical storms, with seven to nine becoming hurricanes, of which three to five could become major hurricanes.
