STILLWATER — With gifts ranging from $15 to $25,000, a group of 528 donors to Oklahoma State University's fire protection and safety program has proven strength in numbers can have a big payoff.The group contributed $370,000 for a new endowed professorship honoring former department head Dale F. Janes.The $370,000 will be matched by money already given to OSU by billionaire Boone Pickens, and by a required state match, increasing the value of the endowed position to nearly $1.4 million."I'm glad we were able to pull it off,” said department head and professor Michael Larranaga. "We are very lucky. We have a lot of people that believe in the program.read more

An Oklahoma State University researcher gained national attention this week for figuring out that a bizarre chameleon species on the island of Madagascar is born and dies within a year. For more than 100 years, people had known about the tiny chameleon species Furcifer labordi, but no one noticed that it was living a furious life in hyper-drive — a life more like those of annual plants or short-lived insects than that of an animal with a spine, said Kris Karsten, the OSU student who published his doctorate research this week in the "Proceeding of the National Academy of Sciences.read more

Tulsa residents Bill and Peggy Welch have given OSU $250,000 to establish an endowed professorship dedicated to sports journalism within the university's School of Journalism and Broadcasting.
