'Coke U.' has plenty of tickets to game
As a 1976 graduate of the Ohio State University, I was surprised to realize that somewhere along the way the name must have changed to the Coca-Cola University. I was rewarded this year with the "opportunity" to be included in the football ticket lottery, with no preference to my 32 consecutive years of paying alumni association dues. As Alumni Association President Archie Griffin's story goes, there are just not enough seats anymore for the alumni.

Gee out of touch on drinking-age issue
As reported in the Tuesday Dispatch article "College presidents back drinking-age debate," President E. Gordon Gee of Ohio State University has joined a number of other college administrators in attempting to question the drinking age limit of 21. His action provides a dramatic contrast to the moral leadership of his predecessor, Karen Holbrook, who made considerable progress in changing the atmosphere at OSU, which repeatedly brought bad publicity to the university.

College presidents showed courage
It took a lot of guts for Ohio State University President E. Gordon Gee, Kenyon College President S. Georgia Nugent and Columbus College of Art and Design President Denny Griffith to do what they did this week: sign their names to a plan to study whether the nation's drinking age should be lowered from 21. They are among 100 college presidents who want to review whether the drinking age of 21 causes more problems than it cures.

Griffin: Heisman record meant to be broken
Archie Griffin isn't concerned about it, but plenty of Ohio State University football fans are. This season, the former superstar college running back could lose his distinction of being the only man in history to win two Heisman Trophies as college football's best player.
