LAFAYETTE "" Clementine Hunter has been called Louisiana's most famous folk artist.Some of Hunter's 4,000 paintings about early 20th century life on north Louisiana's Melrose Plantation have landed in the Smithsonian Institute, the New Orleans Museum of Art, the Oprah Winfrey Collection in Chicago and other collections and museums around the country.But for James Hunter, Clementine was simply Mama Tebe (pronounced TEE-bay), a grandmother who took an 11-year-old James in after his father died. He spent his teen years talking to his grandmother and watching her paint.
