PS3 80GB Motorstorm Bundle for $399
As DVD playback made the PlayStation 2 more than just a game machine, hefty multi-media features make the Sony PlayStation 3 an even more versatile home entertainment machine. Features such as Internet access, digital photo viewing, and digital audio and video will likely make it the central component of your media set-up. Still, it is first and foremost a game console--a powerful one at that.

Resistance Retribution: Innovations in Handheld Violence
Earnest Cavalli writes: "When the team responsible for the hugely underrated PSP Syphon Filter titles was approached by Sony to create a handheld version of the PlayStation 3's flagship Resistance series, the developers had to completely reimagine combat. Gone is the reliance on dual sticks to maneuver and aim, gone is a reliance on multiple shoulder buttons and gone is the first-person perspective. I'm not quite sure if I'm entirely enthralled by this new third-person action title that bears only an aesthetic similarity to the PS3 Resistance, but the changes the developers have made are certainly interesting."

Square Enix: FF XIII Going Multi Is Turning Point
Many in the industry have viewed the announcement that Square Enix's Final Fantasy XIII will go multi-platform - appearing on the Xbox 360 as well as the PlayStation 3 in the West - as a crucial apex in the game hardware wars. It was Sony's last presumed big third-party published exclusive for PlayStation 3, and the day and date Xbox 360 release in North America and Europe has dealt the PlayStation 3 platform a major blow in terms of Sony-only titles. Therefore, Gamasutra asked Square Enix senior vice president of sales and marketing Shinji Hashimoto whether he felt that the announcement was, of sorts, a turning point for the game industry.

Sony's Playstation 3 is back on track
TheStreet reports on their industry view of Sony and other industry players in this article about Sony's strategy and the results shown in the latest NPD numbers: "Sony's latest PlayStation 3 console has stretched its lead over rival Microsoft's Xbox 360 last month, though it still lags behind Nintendo's Wii system, according to industry research firm The NPD Group. Sony sold 405,500 PS3s, compared to 219,800 Xbox 360s but still has a long way to go before it catches up with the Wii, which sold 666,700 systems last month." "Sony stumbled when it launched the expensive PS3 console a year-and-a-half ago and trailed its competitors for months. That's in contrast to its position as the clear market leader with the older PlayStation 2 console." How To: Link your Playstation Underground and Network IDs to create a Portable ID
Gamertell has posted step-by-step instructions for lining your Sony Playstation Underground ID to your Playstation Network ID. The result is what Sony calls a Portable ID. From the article" "[G]oing through the process generates an image with your avatar in it as well as some code around it that links to your ID page... Of course, Sony wants you to paste your Portable ID code in your email, forums and other social networking stuff since it not only gets your ID out there but also helps promote Sony and the PS3."
