LAC SIMON - Quebec police enlisted a tow truck today to pull the twisted wreck of a seaplane from Lac Simon, where it had rested since crashing into the lake more than 50 years ago.

Drivers not rushing for no-hands cellphones
Quebec's ban on hand-held cellphone use by drivers has onlypersuaded half of them to prepare for hands-free operation, a newsurvey indicates. And 72 per cent say they don't intend to acquireequipment for hands-free use. Still, nine out of 10 drivers supportthe ban and 68 per cent say it will improve road safety. The surveywas conducted by Ipsos Descarie based on interviews with 1,002francophone Quebecers from April 10 and April 20, after the new lawwent into effect. The margin of error is 3.1 percentage points, 19times out of 20. The new regulation calls for fines of up to $100plus three demerit points on drivers caught using a hand-heldcellphone. But there is a grace period in effect until June 30.
