British June retail sales post larger-than-expected 3.9% drop
LONDON (MarketWatch) -- British retail sales volume in June saw the largest monthly fall since current records began in 1986, the Office for National Statistics said Thursday. June sales fell 3.9% from the previous month for a 2.2% annual rise. Consensus expectations were for a 3% monthly drop and a 4% annual gain, according to a survey of economists by Dow Jones Newswires.
