Sony: PS3 is the only global option for 3rd parties
Platform holder says the PS3 leads in Japan, Europe and has the momentum in North America. Speaking to MTV Multiplayer, Peter Dille, Vice President, Sony Computer Entertainment of America, has played down the importance of losing Final Fantasy XIII exclusivity on PS3, stating he believes PlayStation is still the home of the Final Fantasy franchise. "What you have with Final Fantasy XIII is a lot like what they've paid for with GTA. It's not an exclusive on their platform. It's now a cross-platform game," said Dille. "I think if you look at how GTA behaved in the marketplace and how it drove - or didn't drive - either console, that's what I'm talking about. Consumers responded to GTA on the PS3 just as they did on the 360. And it becomes a bit of a jump ball. But it didn't rise the tide for them."

Post-E3 week is traditionally marked by a lull in games software and hardware news and, by extension, something of an unhealthy focus on rumour and speculation over actual news. This week is no different, with the latest rumours being that Sony is prepp'ing a new PlayStation Portable model – the 'PSP 3000' - for release. The "spy" photos of the alleged PSP-3000 emerged from the PSPChina.net message board.

Microsoft received a boost from GTA IV sales in Europe but has "fallen back since then" in the eyes of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe president David Reeves. "I think they will continue along that strategy of trying to get exclusives from third parties and promote that," Reeves told Eurogamer. "We anticipate that, but we still feel that we have our own IPs that we call our 'landing lights' that people are just going to go for." When asked for an update on the console war overall, Reeves said that he and his colleagues "actually don't think about it too much".

For anyone who's a fan of DC Comics, they can, of course, expect nods to various aspects of the DC Universe. "The DC fan is going to be like 'I want to see Superman, I want to see Batman.' There's Bizarro, Big Belly Burger and those kind of things," Blakely said, without revealing too many details before a playable version of the game hits Comic Con later this week."
