Swede wins car, WSOPE seat from Betfair Poker
On July 2, Betfair Poker's pros Annette Obrestad, John Tabatabai and Sorel Mizzi helped fill a red Mini Cooper full of poker chips. The car was parked outside the WSOP Europe Lounge, and after more than an hour, it was filled to the brim with poker chips. Once the Mini and its chips were safely secured and the number of chips verifies, visitor to the Rio could try their luck at guessing the amount of chips inside to be able to win the vehicle. "While some people tried to bribe Betfair staff as to the number of chips, others used a more scientific approach, measuring the width of an average chip as well as enquiring about the internal volume of the car," said Betfair Poker in a press release. According to the poker site it was even rumored that Amarillo Slim had hired his own Mini and filled it with chips to try to get the answer. In the end, the best guess went to Sweden-born poker pro Marcus Gustafson. He guessed 127,644, which was within three of the correct amount. Not only did Gustafson win the Mini Cooper, he won a VIP prize package to the 2008 WSOPE as well. The package includes the £10,000 buy-in for the Main Event plus money for travel and accommodations. The WSOPE begins Sept. 19 and includes four events this year. The series will kick off with a £1,500 No-Limit Hold'em event followed by a H.O.R.S.E. event and Pot-Limit Omaha event before the Main Event starts on Sept. 27. Gustafson's prize package isn't the only one that Betfair Poker is giving out either. The poker site is also hosting online satellites for players to win a seat as well.
