Arlington woman: They blasted through the back door with the shotguns'
Staff reports Two gunmen who forced their way into a southeast Arlington home Tuesday afternoon blasted through the back door with shotguns, tied up a couple and their adult son and took the woman's jewelry, a 911 audio recording says. The female victim, who has asked Tuesday that her name not be used because the suspects are still at large, told the 911 dispatcher that the home invasion about 1 p.m. Tuesday was unreal. She said she was sitting reading in her home in the 500 block of Lemon Drive, her son was on the computer and her husband was getting ready for work when the suspects fired into her back door. All the sudden the door blasted out and they were in here, the woman told the dispatcher. It was unreal. And they had shotguns. There was no indication why the gunman picked the small, brick home in an established neighborhood near Cravens Park, in far southeast Arlington. In another part of the tape, the woman said: They tied us up and we were on the floor... They asked for jewelry. They took my rings and anything. We didn't have any money. They wanted a safe, and we don't have a safe. The woman described the attackers as two men who wore jeans, black bandanas over their faces and white T-shirts, possibly under a plaid over shirt. Police later said one attacker was white and one was Hispanic.Police said witnesses in the area have described seeing two men get into a green four-door sedan, possibly a Toyota, near the house that was robbed. The car was driven by a woman who wore a ponytail, witnesses told police.
