Hays sees fiscal-year results in line with expectations
LONDON (MarketWatch) -- Recruitment firm Hays said Thursday that net fees grew 16% on a comparable basis in the three months to June 30, or by 20% in total. The timing of Easter boosted growth in each region by around 2%, the firm said. Results for the year ended 30 June 2008 are expected to be in line with expectations, with higher than expected net fee growth in the second half offsetting a lower U.K. conversion rate. In the United Kingdom & Ireland, net fees grew 4% on a comparable basis. Demand in City related activities and legal remained subdued and construction and property had a difficult quarter. Following the 2% reduction during the third quarter, the company reduced the number of consultants in its U.K. business by a further 5% in the fourth quarter.Market Pulse Stories are Rapid-fire, short news bursts on stocks and markets as they move.
