411 Games Fact or Fiction 05.12.08: New Gears of War 2 Footage, PC Piracy, Best 3rd-Party Wii Game This Year, Vocal EarthBound Fans, & More!
411's Mark Salmela and Joe Roche set aside their differences to tell us what they think about the new things Gears of War 2 will bring to the plate, the idea that piracy is the PC's biggest problem, Boom Blox as the Wii's best 3rd party game this year, whether or not hardcore gamers should look forward to Home, the cost of downloadable games, and the number of gamers that actually care about EarthBound in this edition of Fact or Fiction Games. Mark Salmela: "I honestly don't see what's so special about Gears of War. Sure, the co-op mode in the first game was really cool. The covering system was also well done and the idea of chain sawing through enemies is plain cool. But otherwise, the game is piss poor. Gears of War's multiplayer is terrible in my opinion, and it seems as if Gears of War 2 will make no improvements to it. Sure, Gears 2 will have more enemies on screen, and will probably add a couple of new and interesting features, but Gears of War is one of the most overrated franchises ever. Add in the fact that Epic has been stretched extremely thin due to all of the Unreal Tournament 3 problems they've been having, and I doubt Gears of War 2 will get the development time it needs to make substantial improvements. Just ask the Rainbow Six team what happens when you're scratched for time."

WiiRincontrol Mario Kart Wii Review: Why all the hate?
From WiiRincontrol: Yes, there is a difference in control between 50cc and 150cc, but that is the nature of driving. Steering your car at 50 mph is much easier than doing so at 150 mph. You must react quicker, you must be more fine with your actions. It is the same with Mario Kart. I call laziness on all who claim that this game's motion controls are broken above 50cc. Video games are about mastering the controls in order to win. Mario Kart Wii has above average controls. Master them rather than complaining that motion control was added to the game, or use a GameCube controller. It's that simple.

Play iTunes On Your Wii
I found this article on the Web today, and I was thinking to myself that it would be a nice feature to have on my Wii. Here is the article from www.ecbiz.co.uk: Want to share the iTunes library on your PC, Mac, iPod from your Wii? Well, you can, thanks to a Wii-ware application called Dot Tunes. First, install Dot Tunes, then use the Wii's Opera browser to navigate to your collection and play audio. We are unable to determine whether this includes protected songs downloaded from the iTunes store - but never the less, it's still a pretty cool feature.

Diddy Kong Racing on VC improbable, Viva Pinata DS complete
Rare's newest Scribes page - a feature in which fans' questions are answered - discusses the possibility of Diddy Kong Racing on the Virtual Console and how far along Viva Pinata's development cycle is on the DS. On the issue of Diddy Kong Racing, the writer(s) for Scribes explains that in general, Nintendo does not want to change the appearance of VC games. Thus, that would probably mean Banjo and Conker would return (unlike the DS remake) if the game was released. However, Nintendo currently has no apparent interest to put the game on the Wii Shop Channel anytime soon and Rare believes the chances of the Diddy Kong Racing releasing in the future is highly unlikely. Also, although Rare didn't elaborate on the topic of Viva Pinata's completion, it was noted that the game is finished with development. Rare did not say when the game would be ready for launch, but because the game is no longer in development, one would expect an announcement of some sort very soon.
