Microsoft Touts DirectX 11
It seems that DirectX 10 just launched recently (late 2006 with the release of Windows Vista), but at Seattle-based Gamefest 2008 on Tuesday, Microsoft was touting the latest addition to its API suite. Microsoft said DX11 will introduce new shader technology "that lays the groundwork for the GPU to be used for more than just 3D graphics, so that developers can take advantage of the graphics card as a parallel processor." But perhaps most importantly to consumers, Microsoft said that DX11 will be compatible with DX10 and DX10.1 hardware (as well as new DX11 hardware), so gamers won't have to toss current hardware to play newer games.

After the iPhone Enterprise Media Blitz
No doubt the iPhone 3G is a very cool device. But do IT enterprise staffs really care about that? They already support RIM, Windows Mobile, Palm and Symbian. Do they want to manage more? RIM's BlackBerry is the still hands down leader for mobile enterprise users and that's not likely to change any time soon. - In the warm media afterglow of the iPhone 3G release last week, a number of analysts and writers are taking a leap of faith and claiming Apple's new smartphone is now poised to crack the enterprise market. Why? Because that's what Apple says. In fact, Apple claims, the iPhone is the quot;best phone...

Microsoft Unleashes "Vista Doesn't Suck" Campaign On World
You might remember that Microsoft dropped the hint that they were working on countering Apple's Mac/PC ads. Well, the battle begins now. Microsoft has created a website to give users compelling reasons to update to Vista. It has a rather frank admission from Microsoft: "When Windows Vista debuted in January 2007, we declared it the best operating system we had ever made. "Windows Vista is beautiful," The New York Times raved. It's humbling that millions of you agree. But we know a few of you were disappointed by your early encounter. Printers didn't work. Games felt sluggish. You told us-loudly at times-that the latest Windows wasn't always living up to your high expectations for a Microsoft product." Then Microsoft goes into great detail about how Vista has improved since then with "100 Reasons Why You'll Be Speechless" as well as "10 Things To Try."
