Ve3tro: E3 08: Fable 2 Hands On Impressions
If you're looking for objectivity on this one you've come to the wrong place. If Peter Molyneux invited me to spend all of E3 at his presentations for the entire show, I would probably do it. Fable 2 is going to be a singular RPG experience on the Xbox 360. I won't spend time going through the combat which has been polished very well since last year or the seamless coop over Xbox live that was announced at the press briefing. Or the fact that the game is done and set to ship in October.

What's New in Wii Dead Rising
1UP's Kevin Gifford writes: "We heard Wednesday that Dead Rising, one of the more memorable sandbox games on the Xbox 360, is coming to the Wii, but now we've got further details on the game translated directly from the Famitsu article that made the revelation. The new port, called Dead Rising: Zombie Sacrifice in Japan, will feature all manner of new features and expanded gameplay -- and as producer and director Minoru Nakai discussed with Weekly Famitsu magazine this week, it's all part of an effort to make the notoriously difficult game more appealing to the casual user base." Making a hardcore game more casual for the Wii? Who finds this shocking?

Xbox 360 Almost Gets Installs Right: Using Discs Is So Xbox 360 1.0
PseudoSavant has an interesting take on Xbox 360 hard drive installations. This is something Microsoft should really think about. "One of the interesting aspects of the recently announced "New Xbox Experience" is that gamers will now be able to install/copy their games onto the hard drive. This will be a welcome feature for many people, and I really commend Microsoft on making installs optional (as they should be), however they just missed the mark on making it perfect. ... I'm suggesting that Microsoft should change how their games are sold. Every game should come with a code that, when entered during an install, would allow gamers to play without inserting the disc."

MSN Messenger gets an Avatar-like upgrade
Destructoid writes: "Today, Arstechnica found that Microsoft unveiled a project that works with MSN Messenger to give users Mii-like avatars. The program is called "Minimise Me" and it's an extremely simple little web-based service that allows users to construct faces, then port them to MSN Messenger. It's a lot like the Mii creator, which allows users to pick from several basic components and then organize them around the face to create unique looks. More interesting than creating dumb little people to go with an IM client, is the option creating dumb little people on Xbox Live this fall. Could this IM addition be paving the way for a more advanced service in the future that would include Microsoft's Avatar system? The integration of MSN Messenger with the Live dashboard went over fairly well, so I can't imagine that this doesn't have some sort of correlation to the announcement at E3. It could also turn out to be completely nothing, and just a good opportunity for Microsoft to try to reach out to those who like playing the Wii, but use AIM. Regardless, I made my own Minimise-Me. Isn't he dreamy?"
