Sony Australia Claims GTA IV Victory. Says Microsoft got it wrong.
As Ephraim explains, "You might have seen the local Microsoft press release that came out last week. Well, I want to tell you that that is completely wrong, because what they failed to communicate or add was the 5000 GTA PS3 bundles that were sold in that week. When you add that in, the PS3 SKU outsold the 360 SKU definitely. We can't comment on GTA numbers — just that one bundle and that PS3 outsold 360 at EB — and their figures aren't factored into GfK statistics." It was a point that was reiterated by internal sales data from Australia's largest game retailer, EB. He continued, "The other thing I can tell you — and I feel comfortable telling you because I've asked them — EB, in the standalone data…across EB in Australia, the PS3 SKU outsold the Xbox 360 SKU too." Essentially, we don't have either party's sales figures for the week, but Ephraim believes that the difference of 5000 was enough to put Sony ahead of MS's release of GTA IV — without even being factored into the GfK figures.

TGR: Race Driver: GRID Demo Impressions
Via TheGameReviews.com "Race Driver: GRID is the latest racing game from Codemasters, developers of the critically acclaimed Colin McRae and TOCA Touring Car series. GRID is, in fact, based on the TOCA games, so it's easy to see the influence. Powered by Codemasters very own Ego engine, a modified version of the Neon engine behind Colin McRae: DIRT on the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 last year, it promises superb graphics and physics that could be a likely contender to have the best visuals for any racing game to date."

Mass Effect for PC: Why do people hate DRM?
Mike Doolittle writes: ''Bioware's highly acclaimed and formerly XBox 360 exclusive RPG Mass Effect is fast approaching its release on the PC. Most PC gamers were undoubtedly pleased to hear about enhanced graphics, faster load times, and a re-designed menu system; but it's likely that fewer were happy to hear about the evil digital rights management that will be unscrupulously bundled with the game. Like an increasing number of PC games nowadays, Mass Effect will require an online activation when it is installed. This has been common practice ever since Half-Life 2. But Mass Effect will also "phone home" every 10 days to make sure the key is valid, and it will carry a three-install limit. This has set many message boards afire with rants about "draconian" DRM and people threatening to pirate the game precisely because of the DRM.''

Want to Watch Movies On Your Wii? My Wii News shows you how!
For those in the know, Xbox Media Center (XBMC) is one of the greatest homebrew applications ever created. It perfectly streams movies, videos, pictures and more from your computer or the Xbox's internal harddrive onto your TV, turning last-generations behemoth into a wonderfully powerful media center experience. Unfortunately, running XBMC takes two things that you probably don't have: an old Xbox lying around, and the correct tools to do dastardly deeds to the consoles innards to either soft mod (through applications) or hard mod (through actual computer chips) the Xbox in question. Sure, you could just run out and plunk down $300-400 for one of those other consoles that have limited playback support, but what's the fun in that? Wii owners handy with their Twilight Princess discs, rejoice! Wii Miidia is here to save the day! With a core program that clevery “borrows” from XBMC, WiiMiidia 0.1 will let you play back most any common movie or music format on your TV in no time... visit the site for more info...
